Where to Start the Ihram?

The place where you have to start the Ihram differs depending on where you come from; Where Miqat is determined for the people of each region

Where to Start the Ihram?

The places of Miqat were identified in the hadith of the Prophet (pbuh):

On the authority of Ibn Abbas, he said: The Prophet, (pbuh),

“appointed a Miqat for Medina people is Dhul Hulayfah, for the people of Levant Al-Juhfa, for the people of Najd Qarn Al-Manazil, and for the people of Yemen Yalamlam, they are for them, and for those who came to them from among others who wanted Hajj and Umrah, and whoever was less than that, from where He created even the people of Mecca from Mecca.”

As a result of this Hadith, you should start the Ihram from your Miqat as follows:

1- Miqat Dhul Hulayfah (Abyar Ali)

The Miqat of the people of Medinah and those who pass through it, and it’s 450 kilometers away from Mecca.

2- Miqat Al-Jahfa

The Miqat of the people of the Levant and those on their way, it is in the northwest of Mecca,

between it and it is 187 km, and it is close to “Rabigh”, between it and Mecca is 204 km.

In addition, It has become the Miqat for the people of Egypt and the Levant, and whoever passes by it after the landmarks of Al-Jahfa have gone

3- Miqat Qarn Al-Manazil

It is the Miqat of the people of Najd, which is a mountain east of Mecca overlooking Arafat,

94 kilometers between it and Mecca.

4- Miqat Yalamlam

The Miqat of the people of Yemen and everyone who passes through that road,

It is a mountain south of Mecca, and between it and Mecca is 54 kilometers.

5- Miqat Dhat Irq

It is the Miqat of the people of Iraq, and it is a place in the northeast of Mecca and away 94 kilometers from Mecca.

6- Miqat for the people of Mecca

Finally, the people of Mecca enter Ihram from their homes or Masjid al-Haram if they wish, except for Umrah

because they have to go out to the Hel (such as al-Tan’im, Arafat, or al-Ja’rana) and they enter Ihram there.

Where to Start the Ihram if You are Coming by Plane?

As for those who come to Umrah by plane,

They must enter the Ihram state at the closest Miqat to them, and the same applies to those who come by sea.

For example,

if you are coming from the United States of  America by plane, you have to start Ihram from the nearest Miqat on your way, and most likely it is the Miqat of Al-Juhfa.

Is Ihram obligatory (Wajib)?

Yes; Anyone who is going to perform Umrah or Hajj must enter the state of Ihram at the appointed Miqat.

In addition,

whoever passes the Miqat for Hajj and Umrah without entering the Ihram state, he must return to enter Ihram from it, otherwise, he must offer a sacrifice.

In conclusion, You must enter the state of Ihram before performing the Umrah or Hajj,

and enter the state of Ihram from the time specified for the region from which you come.
