Umrah For Women
The rituals of Umrah for women are the Ihram, Circumambulation, Sa’i, and Shortening of hair, which must be performed as follows:
Ihram

- Purity from Janaba, menstruation, postpartum.

- Tawaf around the Kaaba 7 complete circuits, making the Kaaba to the left.
- Performing 7 consecutive circumambulations around the Kaaba, unless she needs rest from fatigue, or to relieve herself.
Secondly, Tawaf Sunnah For Women
- Stay away from men and not crowd them as much as possible.
- Dua’a between a Yemeni Corner and the Black Stone, and during Tawaf.
- Kissing the Black Stone, if possible, without crowding or causing harm.
- Going to Maqam Ibrahim after circumambulation, and pray two rak’ahs behind the shrine.
- Walk normally and there is no need to speed up while circumambulating.
- It is preferable that the circumambulation is at night.
Sa’i
With regard to the Sa’i between al-Safa and al-Marwa, all the woman has to do is walk 7 times between them, and say whatever Dua’a she wants.
But she should not walk quickly or trot among them like a man.
In addition, purity is not a requirement for the Sa’i between Safa and Marwa.
Shortening Hair
After completing all the rituals of Umrah, the woman must break the state of Ihram,
by shortening her hair a little, and she does not have to shave it completely.

Firstly, The Mahram
A woman must be accompanied by one of her mahrams when performing Umrah, and if she does not have any mahram, she can go with a group of trusted women.
Mahrams for women are:
- Parents and grandparents from the father and mother.
- Children and grandchildren of the sons or the daughters.
- Brothers.
- Father’s brothers and mother’s brothers (uncle)
- Nephews.
- Husband’s father and grandparents.
- The husband’s children and grandchildren.
- Mother’s husband, daughter’s husband.
- Relatives of breastfeeding such as fathers, grandparents, sons, grandchildren, uncles, brothers, aunts, and nephews.
Note that the condition of Mahram according to the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has been abolished since 2022
Secondly, The Woman Should Not be in Iddah
Iddah is a specified period for a woman after divorce or the death of her husband, during which it is not permissible for her to marry.
One of the conditions of Umrah for a woman is that she should not be in the Iddah period.
The Umrah prohibitions For Women
There are some prohibitions for women during Umrah that differ from those for men, for example:
- She must not be menstruating or postpartum.
- They should not move freely without the company of a Mahram.
- Wearing jewelry, make-up, or perfume.
- Wearing bright or brightly colored clothing.
- Covering the face or hands.

- A prayer mat, a small Quran, and small books for Umrah rituals.
- Medication if she suffers from a disease.
- Approved analgesics, skin creams, antiseptics, and sunblock to prevent and treat sunburn.
- Charger for the phone, money.
- Water bottle.
- A small bag to carry while Tawaf.
