The pulpit of the Prophet

The Prophet (pbuh) was preaching at first on the trunk of a palm tree, then he made a three-step pulpit,

and the companions preached on it, but the pulpit was burned in 886 AH, and then the people of Medinah 

built a pulpit of bricks, after which the Mamluk Sultan Al-Ashraf Qaytbay sent a pulpit of white marble.

Green Dome

It is built of wood on top of the pillars surrounding the Prophet’s Chamber, and it is square from the bottom and octagonal from the top.

 

The Prophetic Chamber

It is known as the room of Aisha bint Abi Bakr Al-Siddiq, and it is the one in which the Prophet (pbuh) was buried, and Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq was buried there in the year 13 AH and Omar Ibn Al-Khattab in the year 24 AH, and its wall was renewed during the reign of the Mamluk Sultan Qaytbay.

It is located between the pulpit and the room of the Prophet (pbuh), and it was identified with a green carpet that differs from the rest of the carpets of  Al Masjid Al Nabawi.

 

The Library

There are two libraries in Al Masjid Al Nabawi:

  • The first is old in the middle of the sanctuary, and contains heritage manuscripts, 
  • The second is located on the roof of the sanctuary from the western side and includes a large number of books, volumes, and a digital library.

 Al Masjid Al Nabawi has a great place in Islam, for the following reasons:

Firstly, Spreading Islam in Medinah

It is the second mosque built by the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) in Medinah, and its beginning was in spreading Islam in Medinah. 

 

Secondly, The virtue of praying in Al Masjid Al Nabawi

A prayer in Al Masjid Al Nabawi is equivalent to 1,000 prayers in any other mosque,

and it comes in second place after Al Haram,  As a result of the prophet (pbuh) Hadith:

On the authority of Ismail bin Asad who said We were told by Zakaria bin Uday who said:

“The prayer in my Masjid (Al Masjid Al Nabawi) is better than one thousand (1000) prayers in any other masjid with the exception of Masjid Al-Haram,

and a prayer in Masjid Al-Haram is better than one hundred thousand (100,000) prayers.”

عن إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ أَسَدٍ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا زَكَرِيَّا بْنُ عَدِيٍّ قَالَ: “أَنْبَأَنَا عُبَيْدُاللَّهِ بْنُ عَمْرٍو، عَنْ عبدالْكَرِيمِ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ:

” أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ: صَلَاةٌ فِي مَسْجِدِي أَفْضَلُ مِنْ أَلْفِ صَلَاةٍ فِيمَا سِوَاهُ إِلَّا الْمَسْجِدَ الْحَرَامَ، وَصَلَاةٌ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ الْحَرَامِ أَفْضَلُ مِنْ مِائَةِ أَلْفِ صَلَاةٍ فِيمَا سِوَاهُ.”
